Two India experts to speak at George Mason Saturday

Two leading experts from India will be speaking at an event at the George Mason University Saturday at 1.30 pm.
The experts Professor Alok Bansal and Ms Shakti Munshi, who arrived in the US capital Friday, will be joined  by Dr Vijay Sazawal, who is a Kashmir Pandit expert and this writer who founded the American Friends of Balochistan, to defend human rights in Balochistan and Pakistan.

The topic is "Discussion of Human Rights and Stratic Issues in Pakistan-Afghanistan region and Pakistan occupied Kashmir."

The premier Indian studies think-tank called FIIDS, or Foundation for India & Indian Diaspora Studies, is host of the distinguished guests from India.

Kashmiri Pandits issue has been put on the back burner by most Indian and Hindu organizations in the US. Likewise, despite the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Baloch in the US complain India has not supported them at all though about a dozen committed Hindus who love Hanglaj Mata Sakhtipeet, one of the holiest Hindu pilgrim sites in Balochistan, have joined the AFB.

There is a main reason why ISI is giving India such a tough time. In 2016, India had a GDP of $2.264 trillion while Pakistan's was just 283.7 billion, that is India is almost eight times richer than Pakistan GDP-wise. However, the budgets of both heir foreign spy services-- ISI and RAW-- are almost equal.

In the US, Pakistan spends far more than India on lobbying efforts, diverting some of the funds it receives from the US to buy American lawmakers. It is for this reason in 2009, a US Senator who was quite vocal on Pakistan's dirty game in Afghanistan all of a sudden went mute. When this correspondent did some research, it turned out the senator had received quite a bit in campaign contributions from a doctor's organization funded by the ISI.

This correspondent was surprised when he went to a private wedding party in Karachi in fall 1997 and saw Daud Ebrahim, who was suffering from paranoia at the time. Four streets on each direction, north, south, east, and west-- were cordoned off by the Pakistani security personnel.

However, legendary Baloch human rights activist Baloch Gandhi, Mama Qadeer, is in Delhi for treatment of his grandson Beuragh Reki who underwent surgery at the Jaypee Noida hospital. But just like this writer, Mama Qadeer's young host from Bihar, Rajan Bhardwaj, seems to be at his wits end due to lack of support. He told this correspondent only Hindu religious leader Jitendra Saraswati has helped Mama Qadeer so far and all other have come to take pictures with the man who, for freedom of Baloch victims of enforced disappearances, walked six times more than Gandhi did in his famous Salt March.

The main problem with Hindu merchants is they are mostly banniyas who have the reputation of counting each and every morsel of rice, caring two hoots if Sindhi Hindu girls, who are daughters of Mother India, are raped or Baloch men, who are sons of Bharat Mata, are killed or Kashmir Pandits remain destitute in their own homeland after being pushed out of Kashmir by militants. "My country is sleeping brother, I hate my people," said Bhardwaj on WhatsApp. He said activists like Tajinder Bugga can surely help if they want to.

In addition to lack of funding, there also seem to be lack of coordination among India and Hindu-affiliated organizations in the USA. At the same time the two distinguished speakers will be addressing the FIIDS event, the Hindu American Foundation (HAF) announced it will be screening a movie "From India with Love."
